SUU accident leads to power outage at SUU
On Aug. 8 at 10:50 a.m., a car crashed into an electrical distribution switch on 200 South in Cedar City, resulting in power outages to isolated areas of Southern Utah University’s campus.
Emergency personnel were immediately on the scene. The switch was between the music building and the Gerald R. Sherratt Library. No one was injured in the accident
SUU Facilities Management is working to reroute power back to the affected buildings but will take several hours before campus is completely operational again.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. Rick Brown, chief of SUU Police, said they will not be able to completely know the full extent of the damage until the vehicle is removed.
