The faculty and adjunct faculty for Southern Utah University’s music department will share their talents with students and the community in Cedar City at the Abendmusik faculty recital Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Thorley Recital Hall of the music building on SUU’s campus. This concert is free and open to the public.

“It is always a pleasure for the faculty of the SUU department of music to showcase their talents and share them with the students and community,” Dr. Lawrence Johnson, chair of the music department. “This year we have decided to combine forces with the full time and adjunct faculty performing together in one annual recital. We have several new faculty that you will definitely want to hear.”

The music faculty and adjunct faculty are trained in many areas of the discipline with years of experience and performance. This concert gives them the opportunity to show students and the local community their abilities as well as give back to those who so greatly support their efforts throughout the year.

“Abendmusik, or ‘evening music’ … is an opportunity to hear members of the music faculty practice, or rather, ‘perform’ what they preach,” said Jon Yerby, an adjunct professor at SUU. “Live music performances are in integral part of our local arts community, and we are fortunate to have such a talented group of professors here at SUU.”
