Breathtaking Views and Mild Winter Temps Await at the Virgin River Half Marathon on January 18.

The 43rd annual Virgin River Half Marathon, Southern Utah’s longest-running and most cherished half marathon, is set to take place on January 18. This iconic event will once again captivate participants and spectators with its stunning course along the Virgin River, starting and finishing at the Dixie Convention Center.

“The Virgin River Half Marathon is more than a race — it’s a celebration of community and the great outdoors,” said Aaron Metler, Recreation Manager of Races and Special Events. “With breathtaking views, a welcoming atmosphere, and events for all ages, this is the perfect way to experience the magic of St. George.”

A Race for Everyone

The Virgin River Half Marathon is a family-friendly event that draws participants from across the United States. This year, runners from over 15 states are expected to converge on St. George, drawn by its mild winter temperatures, inspiring scenery, and a course that showcases the area’s unique natural beauty. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or new to the sport, there’s an event tailored to you:

  • Half Marathon: 9:00 AM.
  • 10K: 9:20 AM.
  • 5K: 9:15 AM.
  • Fun Run Walk n’ Roll: 11:00 AM.

More Than Just a Race

The Virgin River Half Marathon offers participants and spectators a full experience beyond running:

  • Pre-race Expo: On Friday, January 17, from 2 PM to 7 PM, the Dixie Convention Center will host the Virgin River Half Marathon Expo. The event features local vendors, health and wellness booths, and last-minute registration opportunities.
  • Scenic Course Highlights: The race winds through paved city trails along the Virgin River, offering panoramic views of red rock cliffs and the stunning landscape of Southern Utah.
  • Post-race Celebration: Finishers will be greeted with cheers and camaraderie, celebrating their achievements alongside fellow participants.

All runners will receive a race shirt and a finisher medal, with special awards for top finishers in each race and age category.
