The Washington County Fair – You Too Can Participate

– By James McFadden –

April 12-20, 2024.

County fairs in Utah are vibrant community events celebrating agricultural heritage and local culture. County fairs feature a mix of traditional and modern attractions. Visitors can enjoy agricultural displays, livestock exhibitions, arts and crafts, local food, and entertainment ranging from carnival rides to live music. They provide a platform for local artisans, farmers, and performers to showcase their talents. Utah’s county fairs are not just about entertainment; they are a testament to the state’s community spirit and rich agricultural history, offering a unique experience that blends education, tradition, and fun for all ages.

I always look forward to the fair; it’s a time to explore new flavors, ride thrilling rides, peruse amazing exhibits, experience new adventures, hang out with friends, and even make new ones.

Since moving here to southern Utah, our family has kept up the tradition of attending the fair, but there’s one aspect of the fair I think most people miss, which is you too can be a part of the fair!

Are you an Artist? Well, you can enter your art into the Art competition and display your work in the Art exhibit! Are you a writer? Again… you can enter your work and your stories into the fair’s community competition exhibits. Other notable subjects are 4-H, Animal Shows, Field & Crops, Fine Arts, Home Arts, Literary Arts, and Horticulture.
