Washington County elections

With the early voting period having officially ended on Friday, Oct. 30, the four municipalities holding elections in Washington County—Hurricane, Ivins, St. George and Washington City—will open voting stations on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Since Santa Clara only has three candidates and three open positions, they will not have voting this cycle.

Hurricane has three open seats and four candidates: Ginger Hall, Pam Humphries, Tony Hal Hoyt and Cheryl S. Reeve. The Hurricane Community Center Fine Arts Building will be the voting location for this year’s elections. The center is located at 92 South 100 West in Hurricane. The City of Ivins also has three open positions, with five candidates seeking election. The candidates are Lance B. Anderson, Ron Densley, Jenny L. Johnson, Crystal Lewis and Dennis Mehr. Voting takes place at three different locations: The Southern Utah Veterans Home at 160 North 200 East, the Ivins City Offices at 55 N. Main St., and Red Mountain Elementary School at 263 East 200 South. For more information call (435) 628-0606.

The City of St. George has six candidates for its three City Council positions: Bette O. Arial, Ed Baca, N. Craig Hammer, Jimmie B. Hughes, Gregg McArthur and Bryan Thiriot. Voting locations will be located at Millcreek High School, the St. George Parks Building, the Washington County Administration Building, the Senior Citizen’s Center, the 1st Southern Baptist Church, the Community Center (at the rear of the building), the Santa Clara Branch Library, Dixie Sun Elementary, Coral Cliffs Elementary, Sunset Elementary, the Dixie Convention Center, Tonaquint Intermediate, Bloomington Fire Station #4, Bloomington Elementary, Desert Hills Middle School, Bloomington Hills Elementary School, Sun River Community Center, Sunrise Intermediate, Crimson View Elementary School,  George Washington Academy, and Sun River Fire Station #8. Washington City also has six candidates for three city council seats. The candidates are C. Bradford Allen, Jean Arbuckle, Troy Garth Belliston, Kolene F. Granger, Bill Hudson and Jeff Turek. Voting locations are at the Washington City Offices at 111 North 100 East, the Washington City Library at 2220 North 300 East, Coral Canyon Elementary at 3435 East Canyon Crest Avenue, Riverside Elementary at 2500 South Harvest Lane, Washington City Public Works located at 1305 Washington Dam Road, and the George Washington Academy at 2277 South 3000 East.
