This year’s 4th of July in the Park Celebration promises to be an unforgettable tribute to community spirit and hometown pride. The Washington City Lions Club invites all to Veterans Park on Friday, July 4, for a day filled with family fun and heartfelt honors—including the unveiling of a new statue dedicated to beloved local leader Quentin Alexander Nisson, affectionately known as “Mr. Washington.”
The statue dedication ceremony begins at 9 AM, and will mark the centerpiece of this year’s festivities. Commissioned by local resident Carmen Snow, the bronze tribute was created by acclaimed sculptor Jerry Anderson and funded by community donations with additional support from the Washington City RAP Tax.
Nisson’s legacy runs deep in Washington City. He served as mayor for 14 years, was a proud WWII veteran, and brought joy to generations through unique traditions—like the patriotic serenade truck and Christmas music that echoed through downtown streets.
“This statue celebrates not just one man, but the values of service, joy, and tradition that define Washington,” said Carmen Snow.
