wearing masks in Utah
Mask Wearing by Pat Bagley, The Salt Lake Tribune, UT

What’s The Matter With Utah?

Why do so many people have a problem with wearing masks in Utah when it’s obvious there are a lot of people who could care less about you or me? After all, isn’t that what it is about more than anything? Taking the time to show concern and respect for others? Debate all you want on whether or not masks will make a difference, if you sincerely care about others, the right thing to do right now is to show it, and what better way to say I care about my friends and neighbors than to cover up your pie-hole when you’re in public…

  1. To whom ever wrote this article. Nothing is wrong with Utah, we actually believe in our choice “To wear a mask or to not wear a mask” even if the governor mandates wearing a mask I will make my own choice. You can debate on the benefits as much as you want and use the ” For the greater good” speech. If you are afraid to leave the house stay home. Maybe you need to take a page out of your own book and ” Shut your pie hole” And let those of us whom are not afraid of the Covid mass hysteria make our choice. If you do not like it in Utah feel free to go back to California where you are problem from any ways.

      • “Stupid is as stupid does” And my health is great, balanced nutrition, healthy diet you should try it sometime. Who is the rest of us? I am currently in California and almost half of every one I see is not wearing a mask. Hazel stay inside living in fear, i will make my choice and not be forced by bureaucracy to wear a mask.

        • If you’re in California, why are you commenting on Utah news?
Seems to me that you need to get your head on straight, mister. You’re part of the problem, not part of the solution.

      • Hazel, born and raised in Utah still live in Utah. I am just fulfilling my “work” duties in California. Maybe you should understand the entire conversation and realize that the author of the article insulted the people of Utah and I will not stand for that. I am definitely part of the solution just not a blind follower of politicians who are guessing on what is best for us.

  2. Dear Joshua Murphy – your level of ignorance in regards to the pandemic is beyond reproach. Therefore any response to your statement only acknowledges this simple yet eloquent fact. SO TO EVERYONE OUT THERE, LET JOSHUA MURPHY STAND AS AN EXAMPLE of a selfish ego who’s pettiness deserves no further comment. The ugliness of his words and lack of empathy for humanity rests on his own laurels.

  3. Coming from an idiot such as yourself, thank you. California awaits your return head home leave soon. Utah does need or want you anymore

  4. “RESTS ON HIS OWN LAURELS” translates – it’s your karma, and sadly your actions will have ramifications, not only to yourself, but unfortunately to those around you. Good luck and be careful. Hope you at least wash your hands, but who knows, maybe your Constitutional rights get in the way there too.

  5. At least i have the intestinal fortitude to use my real name and stand up for my rights as a citizen in the Greatest FREE Country the world has ever seen. I guess being an un named, steaming pile of excrement works for you. Maybe you are like the country that your pseudonym derives from, I believe it is French so yes I believe that you are a gutless coward.

    • You probably think you’re a real patriot too, huh. A real patriot gives of themselves, like soldiers, and currently healthcare workers. They make sacrifices and take risks for the better good of their country. They may not like it but they do it, so that self absorbed buffoons like yourself have the freedom to continue to spew your smug superior attitude upon the rest of us. You? You contribute nothing…you’re not an asset to this country, you are a liability. And history will look back on you as a fool.

      • GMC313 18 years of proud military service. Maybe you should take a look at history, when people blindly follow politicians they become the problem i.e. Nazi Germany. As for my place in history I am not as self centered as your self to think that I am extremely Important to history. I am just a man of Integrity, Selfless Service, Duty, Honor and Personal Courage. If you actually read the original colum then you would actually understand that the writer insults the people of Utah and that I will not stand for. But you are right when you said, ” Areal patriot gives of them selves, like soldiers, and currently health care workers,” GMC313 that you for your encouraging words, and you enjoy the freedom that people like myself and others have fought and many died for. What is your mark on history. A blind sheep who is to big of “bufoon” to actually understand the entire conversation.

          • Hazel Me to, lets get it over with. I am willing to die for my personal freedoms and beliefs. How about you? But I already know that when i get the Corona virus it will be of almost no issue to me. But thank you for the kind words of encouragement. And may the Corona virus bless you with its continued and ever lasting company.

  6. Notice you try to tell everyone what to do. I only mention for you to be careful and wish you good luck. Seems like you are a little hypocritical dude. Add to that anger issues. – wow . My guess not all grown up yet. Well enjoy your 1st ammendment rights. No further comment – guess I got to go back to California now! Gee heard that one 100 billion times. No further comment. R.I.P.

  7. It’s funny how people will yell and scream about their right to not wear a mask and then go home and complain to the HOA that their neighbor has an RV parked on the side of their own house and it’s throwing off the look and feel of the whole community.

  8. Definitely no HOA, that is a California thing. Personal freedom my freind. Not yelling or screaming. Also not hiding behind pseudonym like most of the commentors here. Nice to see that you do not hide your name.

    • HOA’s are alive and well in Utah. It’s almost impossible to live in any city now days without some sort of HOA or CC&R telling you what color your house can be and where you’re allowed to park an RV on your own property.

      • Rice Balm you can come and be my neighbor, no HOA, you can have your RV on the street and beehives in your yard. I will not judge, mask optional at my house. You have the choice to visit or not to visit. And you also have the right and privilege to decide what takes place on your property, who can visit and what they can wear. The whole original post was the writer was in insulting the people of Utah as a whole.

  9. Not following politicians at all – following the science. The overwhelming global scientific community agrees, masks make a significant difference in the effort to control of the virus. However the effort of the many is all but wasted if too many people such as yourself refuse to cooperate because it violates you “freedoms”. So, who’s opinion should I believe – the global scientific community, or you? I think I’ll be a “blind sheep” on this one.
