Kolob Gallery in Cedar City is proud to host Julie Rogers as its guest artist in September and October. Julie is renowned for her figure paintings and pastels, especially her colorful depictions of Latter-day Saint pioneers, as well as for her impressionistic watercolors. These days she works mostly in oils, musing that she started out as an oil painter, so she has sort of returned to that. She lives and works at her ranch in Glendale, Utah, and is occupied largely with commission work, though she still enters the occasional invitational event. She also hosts artists and groups at her Airbnb. She noted that Long Valley is beautiful, especially in the autumn when the leaves start to turn on the cottonwoods along the Virgin River.
Julie believes that the principles of art carry the creation, not the medium. This thought frees her to work in all mediums and to paint impressionistically. She shared her hope that as artists, the goal is to lift others, adding that art changes people, makes them see and feel, and inspires them to find the beauty in all of God’s creations. Her gallery affiliations include Illume West in Philipsburg, Montana, and Dragonfly Gallery in Glendale, Utah. Her current projects are mostly personal commissions, as well as commissions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, specifically for temples and the Liahona. An opening reception will be held at Kolob Gallery, located at 111 South Main Street in Cedar City, Utah, on September 11, 2026, from 4 PM to 6 PM.
