Zion Vineyards Turns Southern Utah Into Wine Country

– By Michael B. Jackson –

Welcome to Utah Wine Country at Zion Vineyards. The Tasting Room has been Open for Business for six months now. A Boutique Winery where a Tasting is $25 for 5, 1 oz pours. They have had guests from all over the world come into the tasting room to enjoy their wines, and the response has been fantastic, including folks from France, New York, Canada, and California who have purchased their wines to take home. Proving Utah can produce some Great Wines. Wine and People do better with a bit of struggle, and it breeds Strong Character.

The Owner and Vintner, Michael Jackson, thinks of this as his Legacy. He has had a love of wine for most of his life, and this is a fulfilled dream. Their Winemaker, Robert Cec, has created some amazing wines—reds with a depth of character and bold style and whites with low acidity and balance. Since Labor Day, four new Wines have been added to the Tasting Menu—the Miscela Rossa, a full-bodied and well-balanced Red Blend in the Tuscan Style. The Tempranillo Reserve drinks are like a full-bodied Napa Valley Cabernet, the Cabernet Sauvignon 2020, Bold and full-bodied, and a semi-sweet Moscato. So, come and visit them at 5 Hidden Valley Rd in Leeds, Utah, just off the I-15, 12 miles North of St George. Select them in Google Maps, and it will bring you right to their front door. Gift Baskets are available for the Holidays, and they are so much better than fruitcakes.

This from Owner and Vintner Michael B. Jackson; yes, it’s his real name.

“Utah can easily be considered the most picturesque State in America. There are five National Parks within its borders for a reason, and the landscape offers an endless canvas for any individual to paint their dreams. My dream was to combine my love of the natural wonders of Southern Utah with my love of amazing wines, so I created Zion Vineyards. The State’s limited precipitation, long growing season, and unique soils offer a promising outlook for locally produced wine with an unmatched complexity and smoothness best uncovered by Zion Vineyards selections.

The rugged desert environment, together with our spirit of craftmanship and experimentation, consistently presents us with wines that hold deep character and complex notes that personify the enthusiasm of our team and the resilience of our vines.”
