Cedar Valley Community Theatre raises funds with Pre-Thanksgiving Holiday SpectacularCedar Valley Community Theatre will hold its Pre-Thanksgiving Holiday Spectacular fundraiser, a cabaret performance celebrating classic holiday music, on Monday, Nov. 14, at St. Jude’s Episcopal Church in Cedar City. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the performance will begin at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served, and there will be prize giveaways from local businesses including Sonny Boy’s Barbecue, Lupita’s Mexican Restaurant, Retro Fitness, Main Street Books, Wingers, The Grind, and The Pizza Cart.

“CVCT has discussed doing a Christmas production for a while and decided to put our own twist on the standard holiday show,” said Cedar Valley Community Theatre president Stephen Wagner. “We’re taking a cue from the joyful Christmas insanity that descends upon our culture the moment Halloween ends. In classic variety show style, the show is packed with fun musical numbers celebrating the holidays, with many songs presented in a way you haven’t seen before. We’ll also showcase great instrumental numbers, which gives us a chance to bring our talented orchestra musicians front and center for the first time.”

Cedar Valley Community Theatre was founded in 2012 by Sterling Young and his mother who wanted to create opportunities for adults to participate in musical productions with live orchestration. While the group is now under the direction of Stephen Wagner, the vision remains to establish a community theater dedicated to bringing individuals with diverse backgrounds together through musical theater. Some recent productions include “The Wedding Singer” and the children’s show “Elephant and Piggie: We’re In A Play.” It is currently preparing for “Oliver!” which will open in January 2017.

Admission is by donation and includes an entry into a drawing. All proceeds from The Pre-Thanksgiving Holiday Spectacular will go towards the theatrical group’s spring 2017 production. St. Jude’s Episcopal Church is located at 70 N 200 W in Cedar City. More information about Cedar Valley Community Theatre is available at cedartheatre.org.
