George Streetfest on Main is back on Oct. 2, Marathon Weekend, with a fresh lineup of performers and a variety of beers and root beers for Oktoberfest. As part of the festivities, Main Street and Jazz Garden food vendors will compete in a bratwurst competition, with customers determining the Oktoberfest 2015 Brat Champ.
The free Precision Hearing Main Street Concert will feature blues entertainers, including southern Utah blues musician Tom Bennett and St. George’s The Katt’s Pajamas. The headlining act has yet to be determined.
“Tom Bennett is a perfect pick for blues month,” said Ryan Groskreutz, George Streetfest talent booking agent. “His music offers an authentic sound and restores the lost art of storytelling. He is a true blues man.”
In addition to the bratwurst competition, the Zion Brewing Company Jazz Garden will offer a variety of beers for tasters to cast their vote for the Oktoberfest 2015 Brew Champ. The Jazz Garden will also host the blues artists from the Main Street stage in addition to the house band, West Coast Jazz.
“Our goal has been to design and launch an event that would appeal to locals and tourists,” said Melynda Thorpe, Emceesquare president. “We have been pleasantly surprised at the evolution of George Streetfest in just five months. In fact, we’re already working on a schedule for 2016.”
George Streetfest event partners are St. George City, St. George Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Historic Downtown Merchants. Additional sponsors are Canyon Media, St. George News, Etched Magazine, The Independent, Richens Eye Center, Zion Brewing Company, Simister Orthodontics, Precision Hearing, Wingate by Wyndham Hotel, and the Habitat for Humanity Restore.
