Dixie Invitational Art Show & Sale patrons have chosen Jeremy Conrad Winborg as the winner of the Viewers’ Choice Award.

Winborg was selected by overwhelming popular vote for “Wrapped in Crimson.” He previously won the 2013 Purchase Prize for “Shoshone Dolls,” but when Winborg learned of this year’s honor, he said the Viewers’ Choice is his favorite award to win.

He started painting very large acrylic portraits as a teenager, and at age 15 his first completed acrylic painting was purchased by the Utah Education Association and distributed to all of the teachers in Utah. His work has also been on display at the United States Capitol Building in Washington D.C.

The Dixie Invitational Art Show & Sale has been instrumental in fundraising for the Sears Art Museum Gallery for the past 29 years. Since its first show in 1988, a portion of the proceeds from each painting purchased has been allocated to help fund the art gallery in the Eccles Fine Arts Center. This year, 247 pieces of art produced by many of the most sought-after artists are displayed for public enjoyment. The goal that continues to drive the show is getting original art into people’s home and educating students and community.

“We are very grateful to the Sears family and our many patrons who are helping us fulfill our mission and help us continue to build our collections through gifts and donations,” curator Kathy Cieslewicz said. “We are excited to greet thousands of people who make this a yearly destination.”

The exhibit is free and open to the public. Exhibit hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. For more information, visit dixieculturalarts.com.
