The Southern Utah University Ceramics Guild will host its Annual Chili Bowl Sale in the Living Room of the Sharwan Smith Center on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, Oct. 13, 15 and 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Chili bowls will be available for purchase. Each purchase comes with the choice of soup or chili. The proceeds from the event will go to support guild members who want to attend the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts Conference (NCECA) and the visiting artist program in ceramics and to teach a useful form of professional activity to ceramics majors. The sale is open to the public.

Each bowl was created by ceramics students from SUU’s Department of Art and Design who are members of SUU’s Ceramics Guild. They are completely finished with food-safe glazes that contain no lead.

“The monies made from the Chili Bowl Sale enable our students to travel to the NCECA conference where they meet distinguished ceramic artists and are exposed to an amazing wealth of art first hand,” said Susan Harris, SUU professor of art and advisor to the Ceramics Guild. “These beyond-the-classroom experiences are invaluable in nurturing our students and their own creative process.”
