Southern Utah University’s music department will host The Red Rockers in its annual rock choir concert, titled “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Music of Elton John.” The performance will be held Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sharwan Smith Center Ballroom.

Elton John has produced more than 30 albums, sold over 300 million records, and has had more than 50 Top 40 songs. His work on popular music, musicals, and Disney movie scores makes him one of the most beloved musicians in the world.

This annual concert has become a favorite of students, professors, and the community alike. It brings the audience together to enjoy the beloved sounds of the past while allowing the audience to see how the tunes have shaped the music that we hear today.

“There are so many great songs that we will perform,” said Michael D’Orazio, senior music education major. “My favorite song to perform would be between ‘Rocket Man,’ ‘Crocodile Rock,’ or ‘Pinball Wizard.’ Since it’s the music of Elton John, there are going to be songs that everybody will recognize including music from musicals like ‘The Lion King,’ ‘Tommy,’ and ‘Aida.’”

Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults and $5 for youth. SUU faculty, staff, and students are free with a valid ID card. Faculty and staff IDs are allowed one guest. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the concert or online at suu.edu/pva.
