Kanab’s Amazing Earthfest returns May 7–10, 2026, marking its 20th year of celebrating Southern Utah’s landscapes through a dynamic mix of education, adventure, and community events.
Held at various locations throughout Kanab, the four-day festival features 27 activities spanning Arts and Culture, Community, Documentary Film, Outdoor Adventure, Science and Land, and Night Sky. Nearly all events are free, offering broad access to hands-on experiences that connect participants to the natural world.
Each day begins outdoors, with guided hikes led by experts in botany, geology, and paleontology across the region’s public lands. The opening hike on May 7 features an ecological scavenger hunt, while the final hike on May 10, led by Willow Canyon Outdoor Gear and Books, includes artisanal coffee served among the red rock landscape.

Daytime programming blends presentations with field-based experiences, while evenings shift to documentary films and stargazing. Highlights include a May 8 presentation by University of Utah ecologist Nalini Nadkarni, introducing her film Between Earth and Sky, and a workshop series, “Personalizing Place,” led by photographer Bruce Hucko.
Behind the festival is a story rooted in curiosity and purpose. Founder Rich Csenge, a longtime Kanab resident, created Amazing Earthfest as a way to bring people closer to the landscapes of the Colorado Plateau while fostering education, collaboration, and appreciation for public lands. What began as a grassroots effort has grown into a regional event that draws both locals and visitors seeking a deeper connection to place.
Programming also explores topics ranging from wildfire protection of cultural sites and regional trail systems to the history of wilderness exploration in the American West. Live music from guitarist Julian Harman adds a cultural layer to the experience.
With more than $10,000 in programming value and two decades of momentum, Amazing Earthfest continues to offer a meaningful way to experience the landscapes that define Southern Utah.
