#Eatforcanyoncreek: Cedar City eateries come together to support annual Dine Out for Shelter

By ReAnne Reimschussel

On Oct. 9, local restaurants will donate a portion of their sales to help survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in the eighth annual Dine Out for Shelter event, Canyon Creek Services’ largest fundraiser of the year.

This fun, city-wide event brings restaurants and the community together in support of an important cause. Canyon Creek Services is hoping to raise a record high of $20,000 this year.

Whether it is eating out for breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, or dessert, there is a way for everyone in the community to participate in this event and support our local restaurants and survivors. This is one of our favorite events of the year. We love the enthusiasm our community brings to this event.

Participating restaurants will donate a portion of their sales for the entire day of Oct. 9 to Canyon Creek Services. Pizza Cart and Charlie’s Southern BBQ will donate 50 percent of their sales. All American Diner, Teriyaki Grill, 5 Buck Pizza (both locations), Bruno’s, Dairy Queen (both locations), Pasty Pub, Perks, Pork Belly, Centro, Brick House Cafe, The Depot Grill, and Alfredo’s will contribute 25 percent.

Many of the restaurants have also donated gift cards, and donations of over $5 made at the restaurants will be entered into a prize drawing. Canyon Creek Services encourages diners to share their dining experiences throughout the day on by posting photos or social media updates with #eatforcanyoncreek. A traveling videographer and photographers will also be out and about to document the community conversation surrounding the event.
