The Independent, your community news source, is getting busier and busier. As our readership continues to grow, both in and outside of southern Utah, we are looking for more news writers to help us better serve our community by covering as much of that “news, politics, culture, or events” as possible.

In addition to looking for individuals who are able to cover stories when they come in, The Independent is also seeking writers who are able to find their own leads. While some stories require (or at least largely benefit from) being “on the scene,” many others can be written from home, providing you have a phone and internet connection.

If you are reading this posting, then you are probably already familiar with The Independent. We don’t write about the accident or arrest records for the sake of the sensational. We cover the stories that we believe matter to our region, our state, and our nation, and when it comes to our news, we go the extra distance to make sure all sides are represented.
