Governor Gary Herbert announced today that Utah’s unemployment rate has dipped below 4 percent for the first time since the recession hit.

As of March 7, Utah’s unemployment rate sits at 3.9 percent, according to information from the Utah Department of Workforce Services.

From his Twitter account this morning, Herbert announced the new numbers, calling the drop in unemployment “Great news.”

Utah has remained better than the national average for unemployment rates since the recession started.

The national unemployment rate was at 6.7 percent for February 2014, according to information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
