The Red Rock Film Festival is celebrating its twentieth anniversary from September 23 through September 26, 2026, at the Performing Arts Center in St. George. The four-day event showcases independent films from Utah and around the world, featuring productions by local creators as well as Oscar- and Emmy-recognized filmmakers.
Highlighting the diverse lineup is Snowland, a feature documentary by Park City filmmaker Jill Orschel that follows a former child bride from a Colorado City polygamist sect who creates a fantasy world to survive and heal. Local storytelling also takes center stage in Ba Ba Bound, a film by Ben Blaskovic shot entirely in St. George at locations like Pineview High School, featuring local residents alongside German actors. Meanwhile, J.L. Topkis’s Ephemera, UT, filmed in Heber City and Park City, explores generational values and wealth disparity through the sale of a high-end Boy Scout collection.
The festival will also host the red-carpet world premiere of Wreckage, directed by Ash Patiño, which investigates the mysterious disappearance of nineteen-year-old farmer Dylan from Lucin, Utah. For those seeking outdoor narratives, Lights Out: Skate or Die, directed by Jon Bash, follows professional skateboarder Jason Ellis on a Utah coyote-hunting trip that ultimately inspired him to relocate to the state.
International cinema is well-represented with two major premieres. The Americas premiere of Julien Lecat’s Still Spirits offers a supernatural tale of a teenager meeting a mysterious boy at a lakeside campground threatened by wildfires. Additionally, Fred Eyriey’s Creole-language film, The Coruskan, makes its United States premiere, telling the story of a love triangle in Cilaos, a remote mountain village on Reunion Island.
Screenings run daily from 1 PM to 11 PM at the Performing Arts Center, located at 905 South Main Street. A second festival section is scheduled to take place in Cedar City this November.
