Utah is a state known for beautiful scenery, friendly people, and an extremely high quality of life. Cedar City is no exception. Though known best as a college town and host of the Utah Shakespeare Festival, Cedar City also has a plethora of natural scenery and iconic architecture that make this small town a special place to be. Here are the five most Instagrammable spots in Cedar City.

Southern Utah Museum of Art

One of the best and most modest areas of Cedar City includes the beautiful Southern Utah Museum of Art. This is the ideal location for cool and casual photos complimented by statement art pieces. Just the outside of this building is a spectacular piece of art with its unique design and curved lines. The building houses features from regional artists as well as students with over 2,000 objects in the permanent collection. This is a must see stop when searching for those Instagrammable spots in Cedar City.

Frontier Homestead State Park Museum

Go back in time with a visit to this museum, which offers a trip back to pioneering days. You’ll see beautiful historic buildings and architecture as well as horse-drawn wagons and sawmills that were a staple of frontier life. There are many programs offered at the museum as well as hands-on activities that will make a great addition to your Instagram feed. Guides are available, and the staff is quite friendly and knowledgeable in order to help you learn more about the spirit of adventure during this time.

Coal Creek Trail

This 3.4-mile trail runs between Bicentennial Park up to Cedar Canyon. It is a nicely paved trail that sees many visitors each day. Take a picture from the trail of the beautiful hills and vegetation that line the entire length of the trail. There are many access points of the trail, making this an easy spot in Cedar City to get to in order to enjoy the outdoors and gorgeous weather.

Engelstad Theater

Step back even further in time and visit the Engelstad Theater, a replica of William Shakespeare’s Globe Theater in London. It is an outdoor theater that seats up to 900 people and is an important part of the Utah Shakespeare Festival, which runs during the late summer and early fall each year. Just the building shape itself would create an easy Instagram pic, but watching the performances there will create an even more magical experience.

Veterans Park

Located on Freedom Boulevard, Veterans Park offers many opportunities for the perfect Instagram-worthy post. You’ll find many different monuments within the park, including special areas to honor World War I and World War II as well as those honoring the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Operation Iraqi Freedom is honored within the park as well with a monument. The Cedar City Rotary Club does a great job of maintaining the park landscaping, which always provides a beautiful background for a photo op. You’ll find many flowers, shrubs, and trees that dot the park with extra color and texture for the perfect picture.

There are plenty of things to see and capture while in the Cedar City area. Consider traveling back a few hundred years and learning about life as an early pioneer or even during the time of Shakespeare.
