According to a press release this morning from the Mohave County Sheriff’s office, the body of the missing Hurricane man has been located.
The release states that Mohave County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue units recovered the body of the missing man from Hurricane late Thursday afternoon in the area of the Ft. Pierce Wash in Warner Valley.
The deceased man has been identified as 33-year-old Ryan Daniel Mertlich and was located at about 4:15 pm.
The Washington County Search and Rescue Horse Mounted team assisting Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue located Mertlich’s body approximately 6.7 miles south of the Utah State line and six miles west from where his vehicle was located.
The Department of Public Safety Kingman Ranger helicopter-extracted the victims body and released it to the Mohave County Medical Examiner.
Tuesday evening, Sept. 15, relatives had reported 33-year-old Ryan Daniel Mertlich missing to the Hurricane Police Department. Mertlich was last seen Monday evening en route to his residence after leaving a relative’s home in Washington City. He was driving a 1995 camouflaged Geo Tracker. Mertlich is known to drive the back roads between St. George and Hurricane. Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 16, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Hurricane Police Department located Mertlich’s vehicle on the Arizona Strip in Mohave County Arizona.
Authorities believe that Mertlich may also have been caught in the flash flooding that occurred on Monday.
