Soiree Musicale delights hearts with chamber music at Kayenta

By Merrie Campbell-Lee

Enjoy chamber music composed especially for an intimate gathering by Mozart, Faure, and Dohnanyi with Soiree Musicale at the Center for the Arts at Kayenta. The Lorraine Boccardo Black Box Theater is the ideal setting to enjoy the spectacular sounds of piano, violin, viola, and cello played together. The concert will be held Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.

For this truly very special night in Ivins, the Center for the Arts at Kayenta is thrilled to showcase the world-class talent of local musicians from southern Utah. On piano is Christian Bohnenstengel, director of keyboard studies at SUU; playing violin is Urs Rutishauser, director of the Chamber Music Society of Southern Utah; on viola will be Linda Ghidossi-Deluca, head of the Vista music program; and on cello is Jessika Soli, a member of the Rosin Cello Duo.

The quartet will open with the first movement of the “Serenade for String Trio” by Dohnanyi. They will then play two of the finest works of the classical and romantic traditions: Mozart’s dashingly upbeat Piano Quartet in G minor, K. 478, and Faure’s Piano Quartet in C minor, which bridges romanticism and impressionism. The evening promises to be an unforgettable experience for music lovers of all ages. Tickets are $30 or $10 for current students and can be purchased online at kayentaarts.com. The Center for the Arts at Kayenta is located at 881 Coyote Gulch Ct. in Ivins.
