Southern Utah’s art scene gets a fresh jolt of color and connection this May as the Southern Utah Art Guild rolls out a full slate of free, public events anchored by gallery shows, artist meetups, and community programming across St. George.
The month kicks off with the Arrowhead Gallery Open House on Wednesday, May 6 from 4 to 6:30 PM at Arrowhead Gallery. The event invites the public to meet many of the Guild’s artists, enjoy refreshments, and explore new works across a wide range of mediums, from wood carving and ceramics to oil painting, photography, jewelry, and sculpture. Featured artist Marilyn Rose will highlight her landscape oil paintings and conduct a live demonstration during the evening. The event also includes a 10% discount on artwork and opportunity drawings for original pieces.

For 15 years, Arrowhead Gallery has showcased work from 35 local artists, blending emerging talent with established creators. The gallery recently earned a Silver Award for Best Art Gallery in Southern Utah in 2026, reinforcing its reputation as a destination for original regional art. Regular gallery hours run Tuesday through Thursday from 10 AM to 6 PM and Friday and Saturday from 10 AM to 8 PM at 68 E. Tabernacle St.
Meanwhile, Red Cliff Gallery launches its “Explosion of Color” exhibit on May 8, with an opening reception from 6 to 8 PM. The show features vibrant new works from contemporary Guild artists and runs through June 18. Located at 220 N. 200 E., the gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Saturday from noon to 4 PM. All artwork is available for purchase.

Beyond the galleries, the Guild continues its commitment to artist development and community engagement. CONNECT, sponsored by the Utah Arts Alliance, takes place May 28 from 6 to 8 PM at the Social Hall, 212 Main St., offering artists a chance to have their work critiqued by host Colleen Gianatiempo. Earlier in the month, MEET + MINGLE on May 12 from 3 to 4:30 PM provides a casual setting for networking and creative exchange.

With a full calendar of events and a strong emphasis on accessibility, the Southern Utah Art Guild continues to make local art easy to discover and even easier to take home. For more information, visit southernutahartguild.com or call 435-628-9592.
