May in Southern Utah feels like a deep breath.
The kind where the air is still cool in the morning, the light stretches a little longer each day, and everything, events, trails, conversations, starts to open up again. It is that in between season where spring has not quite let go, but summer is clearly on its way.
This issue reflects that shift.
You will find a little bit of everything in these pages. Rodeo dust rising in Kanab. Chalk art transforming pavement into something temporary and magical in Springdale. Conversations about growth and the future of our communities. Live music and comedy filling the evenings again. It is a reminder that what makes this region special is not just the landscape, it is how we choose to gather within it.
There is a theme that kept showing up as we pulled this issue together. Momentum.
Not the loud or chaotic kind. The steady kind. The kind that builds over time. A rodeo that in just one year is already becoming part of a community’s identity. An art guild continuing to create space for artists to connect and grow. Conversations around development that are asking bigger, more thoughtful questions about where we are headed.
Even the quieter pieces, the stargazing, the hiking updates, the moments spent outdoors, carry that same energy. They remind us that while things are growing and changing, there is still so much here that asks us to slow down, look closer, and pay attention.
That balance feels important right now.
As always, thank you for reading, for showing up, and for being part of what makes Southern Utah feel like more than just a place on the map.
See you out there.
