Southern Utah Heritage Choir Christmas Concert December 15

“Let Earth Receive Her King” – Cox Performing Arts Center.

The Southern Utah Heritage Choir continues its 30th concert season by performing their annual Christmas concert at the M.K. Cox Performing Arts Center on the Utah Tech University campus, Friday, December 15, 2023, at 7:30 PM.   Special guest artists Brandon and Mackenzie Lee will join the choir for this one-night-only performance with tickets starting at just $14/pp.

According to Heritage Choir President Geri Rhodes, “The Choir’s program will include several ‘larger-than-life’ choral arrangements of both traditional and inspirational Christmas songs like “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” “Carol of the Bells” and “Angels from the Realms of Glory.”

American pianist Brandon Lee has been thrilling audiences with his technical command and tonal sensitivity for well over two decades.  He has been awarded first place in more than 40 piano competitions nationwide and has been a guest soloist with such organizations as the Utah Symphony Orchestra, San Juan Symphony Orchestra, and the Grand Junction Symphony.  He was a keyboardist for the rock band, Kansas, and accompanied Broadway star Audra MacDonald in concert.  He is a graduate of Utah State University and has been on the faculty of Utah Tech University since 2013 as well as teaching various piano classes at the Utah Arts Academy of St. George in recent years.  He and his wife, vocalist McKenzie Lee, frequently perform together in and around southern Utah.

Rhodes added, “We’re looking forward to Brandon and McKenzie’s unique talents as we celebrate the Christmas season at our last concert at the Cox Performing Arts Center before its renovations begin in January 2024.   All these incredible talents on stage together will make for a most memorable Holiday program.”

From its inception in 1994 in the St. George Tabernacle, the Choir has maintained a rigorous performance schedule.  Each year it presents Spring, Fall, Patriotic and Christmas concerts throughout southern Utah.  Throughout its history, the Choir has toured extensively in the United States, Europe, the British Isles, Mexico, China, and Italy.  It is under the direction of Conductor, Dr. Ken Peterson, with accompanists Karen Kennedy at the organ and Jennifer Redfearn at the piano.

The Choir’s performances will be enhanced by the Crimson Cliffs H.S. Chamber Choir in a pre-show performance.
