SUU’s High School Open Studio Sessions are designed for students and teachers who can come and participate in what’s happening in the art and design studios. The will evening include studio visits, a meet-and-greet reception, a special door prize drawing for high school faculty in attendance, and a high school portfolio review. Two or three scholarships will be awarded that night. The evening is capped off with a pizza social and a visiting artist presentation from alumnus and web designer Frank Imler as part of SUU’s Art Insights program.

This year, fledging artists can experience a variety of visual art forms. There will be access to the labs for ceramics and sculpture, illustration and drawing, painting and printmaking, photography and digital photography, and letterpress and design. No matter a student’s medium, SUU’s High School Open Studio Sessions offer unique creative engagement.

“It is so important that high school seniors know as much as they can about the university they are looking to attend and the degree program they want study,” said coordinator Jessica Gerlach, assistant professor of art. “The Open Studio Night gives high school students and their parents an opportunity to experience the Art and Design programs and facilities. They will also have an opportunity to speak candidly with current students in the program to get the inside scoop on SUU Art and Design.”
