SUU’s theater and dance department will present the fun-filled musical “A Year With Frog and Toad” Nov. 1, 2, 4, 7, and 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 2 and 9 at 2 p.m. in the Randall L. Jones Theater.

“Children know what it’s like to have a best friend that you laugh with, grow with, fight with, and dream with,” said Tony Clements, director of “A Year With Frog and Toad.” “It’s often parents who need to be reminded of the importance of those once-in-a-lifetime friendships and how, year after year, they continue to grow if you water them and you’re patient.”

“I would have to say my favorite part about working on ‘A Year With Frog and Toad’ is the cast unity,” said Nathan Myers, a senior musical theater BFA candidate from St. George. “During rehearsal, everyone is so kind and encouraging of each other’s work. The audience will really feel the sincerity of each of the characters relationships with one another due to the fact that many of the moments they will see are real moments that were created spontaneously in the rehearsal process and these moments wouldn’t have happened without the mutual respect between each of the cast members.”

“One of the most rewarding aspects of this production has been finding the reality in these stories,” said Matthew Bowden, a sophomore musical theater BFA candidate from Salt Lake City. “Even though the “Frog and Toad” books were written for children, they are grounded in reality. The most important thing in the very real world of Frog and Toad is the relationships between people. It’s been so wonderful to work with Nathan and develop chemistry that helps us to project these stories not just as two-dimensional children’s stories, but as three-dimensional realities.”

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for alumni with card, and $7 for youth. SUU faculty/staff (and one guest), and students can get in free with a valid ID card. Tickets can be purchased at the America First Event Center Box Office, at the door the night of the performance, or online at suu.edu/pva.
